Paul walked along the row of trade carravans. Some horse drawn and some drawn by cows. Each caravan belonged to a different family, all planning on trading different thier wares. But first they had to travel for about 3 days to get to the Piece Hall. 3 or 4 days of traveling through Raider territory, that's just marvelous.
The convoy's would run around the Raider turf, but there was really no use. They would just shift to the new routes any way. And some of the wares they were shifting have a sell by date. So it just made sense to travel the most direct route and spend as little time as possible in Raiders turf. Having security didn't hurt either, the families had all chipped in to get some Freelancers to bring a little extra muscle for the journey.
The Settlers are no push overs, but then again ther're no warriors either. Paul was the best example of this, the only reason he was here at all is because stuff might need repairing along the way.
